Led by the Bulgarian Football Association, representatives from the Italian municipality of Trani, GEA Cooperativa Sociale, the Bulgarian Football and Basketball Associations and the Center for Sport Science and University Sport of the University of Vienna came together. The aim of the Erasmus+ funded TEAMUP project is to promote education in and through sport with a special focus on developing coaching quality in grassroots youth sports.
The progress of the project so far was discussed, as well as the approach to fulfill the next work packages. The ZSU team was tasked with researching current developments of digital tools in football and basketball training and their use in practice. The report produced for this purpose was discussed and brought into context with results from surveys on the training needs of coaches in the youth sector of the participating project countries. The project is now moving from its research phase into the development phase, in which an interdisciplinary training methodology for youth sports in football and basketball is to be developed. This will be made easily and freely available in the form of a digital learning platform and mobile app. The development will be completed by March 2024 and presented at a transnational project meeting in Vienna.
