Forschungsinteressen

Dr. Matthias Kempe is an Assistant Professor of Data Analytics in Sports at the University of Vienna. He received his PhD in Sport Science at the German Sport University Cologne form the Faculty of Exercise Training and Sport Informatics and worked at the Univeristy of Groningen as an Assistant Professor. His research intrests include performance optimization in sports and studying interaction patterns using complex analysis (i.e. Machine Learning). He cooperateds with different sports federations in various countries, especially in Handball, Ice-Skating, Tennis, and Football. These cooperations led to several publicly funded projects to implement analytic tools and machine learning in sports practice. Besides that, he works together with several data analytics companies and is regular mentor for Hackathons.
