PhD Student Published New Research Validating High Reproducibility of Muscular Performance Measurement with IsoMed 2000

20.12.2023

Accurate measurement of muscular strength is critical, particularly in scenarios such as rehabilitation after traumatic injuries and competitive sports. Dynamometric devices like the IsoMed 2000 are widely recognized as the gold standard for assessing muscle strength. However, prior studies lacked a comprehensive examination of the reproducibility of peak moment (PM) measurements, especially at velocities near the upper limits of these devices.

To address this gap, our PhD student Manfred Zöger lead a meticulous investigation involving thirty volunteers who underwent three test sessions. The study encompassed isometric as well as isokinetic knee extensions. Overall, reproducibility of PM measurements across all conditions was shown to be high, with only minimal differences between measurements. This is appropriate for most common practical applications.
