This study co-authored by Dr. Juliana Exel described that children present mainly two different levels of physical activity based on daily steps, and these differences reflect on their body composition and inflammatory responses: (1) a sedentary group children, characterised by lower physical activity level presented higher body fat and increased inflammatory process that can lead to production of leptin; (2) an active group characterised by higher physical activity, lower body fat, and positive interaction with immune system indicator. Thus, daily steps monitoring can be a useful and low-cost way of monitoring children’s health status.
