The article ‘Imaging-based musculoskeletal models alter muscle and joint contact forces but do not improve the agreement with experimentally measured electromyography signals in children with cerebral palsy’ by Ass-Prof Hans Kainz and Prof Ilse Jonkers has been published in the Journal of Gait and Posture.

In this study, Hans Kainz in collaboration with Ilse Jonkers from KU Leuven (Belgium) showed that magnetic resonance images based musculoskeletal models do not alter the shape of muscle activation waveforms. Hence, for patients with impaired motor control it is import to use electromyography based simulation approaches to account for the altered muscle activations.
