On the 7th and 8th of November 2024, the 3rd workshop “Collaborating for Excellence on Sports Data Analytics and Technology” by the Central European Network for Teaching and Research in Academic Liaison, will be held in Vienna, Austria.
Sports technology and analytics in recent times has become a whole field of research, market and occupation. The need of information on diagnostic of performance in sports teams has overcome the barriers of team-club association walls, as a fundamental part of training optimization, to be an interest of general media, data analytics start-ups, higher-level sports management companies and technology developers.
The goal of this workshop is to provide junior researchers with an introduction to the use of data analytics in sports research, as an opportunity to participate in the expansion of the area. The workshop will cover a range of topics, including data collection, cleaning, and analysis, as well as statistical modelling and visualization techniques. Gaining knowledge and wisdom from data is challenging and should be fostered to effectively develop the necessary skills of students and early-career researchers in sports technology and analytics. The workshop will bring together researchers from Charles University, University of Vienna, and Eötvös Loránd University, and will provide opportunities for collaboration and networking. The workshop will include strategies for promoting sustainability, including establishing clear goals and expectations, fostering open communication, leveraging existing networks and resources, promoting knowledge sharing and capacity building, and developing a long-term plan for the collaboration. Thus, the "Collaborating for Excellence on Sports Data Analytics and Technology” is designed to better integrate and promote junior researchers and PhD students with opportunities to interact with and learn from senior researchers, helping them enhancing skills and connections they need to succeed in their careers in sports science and technology.
The first day of the workshop (7.11.2024) themed “Excellence on Sports Data Analytics and Technology: Established Research” will be streamed online for the public and can be accessed under the following link (https://univienna.zoom.us/j/64463277247?pwd=qfqKnoReBTFpQkCoaFSfbse2pN7cTP.1). The stream will commence at 13:30 with an opening presentation by Dr. Juliana Exel from the University of Vienna.
