The study aims to investigate the impact of environmental, lifestyle, social and cultural factors on fitness parameters and cardiovascular disease risk factors in children and adolescents aged 9 and 15 years of different sex, culture, and ethnicity. A special focus of this study was to analyze assoziations between physical activity, sedentary behavior and fitness with obesity and metabolic outcomes. In a representative sample of children, physical, anthropometric, biochemical, and lifestyle variables were assessed and compared for age, gender and urban and rural differences respectively. The selected age-group and research methodology allows integrating these data into the European data pool and comparing for regional specifics.
