European Network for Action on Ageing and Physical Activity
Vision:
Optimal health and quality of life for older people in Europe through physical activity.
Aim:
To use evidence-based strategies to improve health and quality of life among older people in Europe through physical activity.
Objectives:
- To identify, disseminate and promote evidence-based practice in physical activity for all the older people in Europe.
- To select or develop evidence-based guidelines for practice in the area of ageing and physical activity.
- To provide information and expert advice to policy makers, providers and professionals in the fields of ageing, physical activity, and health.
- To influence the development of educational curricula and standards of competence for professionals involved in the provision of physical activity for older people.
- To develop synergies among researchers, providers and professionals in the fields of ageing, physical activity, and health.
- To support policy makers in intersectoral approaches to the promotion of physical activity among all older people.
- To cooperate with other organisations relevant to the promotion of physical activity among older people.
- To involve older people in the development and implementation of network activities.
Realisation:
In order to accomplish these goals EUNAAPA has defined 7 work packages:
- Coordination of the project
- Dissemination of project results
- Evaluation of project results
- Assessment of physical activity and physical functioning
- Identification of existing physical activity and promotion of physical activity programmes
- Implementation and dissemination of physical activity programmes
- Secure the existence of the EUNAPPA network
These steps include e.g. the launching of an internet platform, the establishment of contact to other organizations and networks in the fields of ageing, physical activity and health, the hosting of a conference at the end of the project, meetings with national relevant policy sectors, the publishing of reviews and guidelines etc.
