Award of the “PostDoc Lecture 2025” of the German Association for Sports Science (dvs) to Johannes Müller

14.07.2025

Ass.-Prof. Dr. Johannes Müller has won the “PostDoc Lecture” award from the German Association for Sports Science (dvs). With the PostDoc Lecture, the dvs offers a forum for young postdoctoral researchers (including research assistants and assistant professors) as part of the dvs-Hochschultag, which allows them to report on their research more comprehensively and in front of a larger audience than is possible with a typical working group presentation.

Ass.-Prof. Dr. Johannes Müller has won the “PostDoc Lecture” award from the German Association for Sports Science (dvs). This is the seventh time the lecture prize has been awarded. The target group is young scientists with a doctorate (“post-docs”) who would like to present their own research program in the form of an overview or position paper. Prof. Dr. Markus Kurscheidt, together with Dr. Uli Fehr as dvs Vice-President for the Promotion of Young Researchers, decided on the contribution “Sport hinter Gittern. Ethnographische Forschung im Gefängnis” by Johannes Müller. The research approach combines participation, observation and interviews and contributes to a comprehensive understanding of the meaning of sport in prison. In addition, the article sheds light on an area with high social relevance that tends to be underrepresented in public perception, in which almost all sports science sub-disciplines can be connected and interdisciplinary research can reduce the pronounced research desideratum.
Johannes Müller will give his lecture on Thursday, September 18, 2025 at 4.30 pm as part of the 27th Hochschultag of the dvs.
