Smart Sport Assistance Project Presentation

03.10.2023

The Department of Sport and Human Movement Science at the University of Vienna presented the Sparkling Science project "Smart Sport Assistant" on 18 September 2023 at the Innovation Dialogue of the Innovation Foundation for Education in the Aula der Wissenschaften in Vienna. The project, which started in October 2022, aims to reduce participation barriers for blind and visually impaired pupils in physical activity and sports lessons by developing technical assistance systems and to promote the sporting activities of blind and visually impaired children and young people. For this purpose, pupils with and without blindness and visual impairment work together on the development of assistance systems in the sense of the "Open Innovation" principle, which provides for a constant exchange between all pupils (e.g. pupils without blindness and visual impairment research participation barriers from the perspective of people with impairments, pupils develop prototypes themselves and test them together in participatory and trial events).
